Cwmrhydyceirw Primary School Tuesday the 12th of July 2011 - Morning workshops

This morning was our fourth sector of the project where the children engage in four different workshops throughout the day including painting, music, art and archaeological history. We began at the Waterfront Museum, finishing at the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery in the afternoon.

Today we divided the children into two different groups, one working with Elena and one with Catrin. Catrin’s group were asked to look out into the surrounding landscape and collect using water colour four different tones of blue. They were asked to look at how warm or cold the tones were and to try and copy the exact colour they are looking at down onto the paper. These would therefore be used later, when the children produce their own colour blue canvas within the 100 blues production.

Meanwhile Elena's group were listening to an old pirate’s tale, and using words and drawings to express their own ideas of boats and the sea. As you can see we had some wonderful boat designs and drawings!

In the afternoon we divided the children into three groups, one with Marion leading a music workshop, one with Tom directing a historical workshop around the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery and one creating the children’s own colour blues with Catrin.

The children had a fantastic time engaging in the activities, and learning new facts and musical skills!

A great day!
